Ivy House

Ivy House Nursing Home was opened in 1996. It is a large private residence that has been converted to suit its current purpose as a nursing care home and provides a welcoming residential style homely environment.

Ivy House is situated in a pleasant, sought after residential area of Stanmore, Middlesex, within walking distance of the local amenities, providing easy access to bus and London Underground services as well as shopping facilities.

Ivy House caters for nine elderly service users (aged 65 years and above) with learning difficulties in a residential style homely environment. There are two double bedrooms and five single bedrooms. All are tastefully decorated and personalised with services users own property to achieve a 'home from home' feeling. Each bedroom also has the facility of being included in the main TV aerial loop, which enables each service user to have their own TV if they so wish.

In addition to the bedrooms the Home has a through lounge/dining room. This communal area is furnished to meet the needs of every service user and for service users to interact with each other if they so wish.

As Ivy House is a two storey building, the service users living on the upper floor have access to the first floor via a four person lift.

The Home Managers office is located off the main communal area.

Ivy House has a large pleasantly equipped garden to the rear and car parking spaces to the front which also provides a disabled access ramp to the building.

There are churches of many different denominations in the local area and provision can be made for service users to attend the service of their choice, should they so wish.

Outings to places of interest are frequently arranged during the summer months and service users are involved in deciding the venues. Whilst service users are encouraged to participate, there is never any pressure or compulsion to do so.

Service users can, of course, come and go as they please for days out with relatives or friends - medical considerations permitting.
